We all see advertisements on the T.V about helping out those in other countries who have nothing and need our help. But sending them money is pointless as most of the money does not go to where it is supposed to and actually goes to pay the wages of those running the various charity organisations and the volunteers do not receive a wage and those they are helping get a very small amount of what is needed. It’s probably not a good idea to jump on a plane and travel to a war-torn country and try to help people where the risk to your life is going to be high. But don’t be discouraged, there are other places that are safer where you can still travel to and be part of the culture for a short time. In order to do this you really have to plan well and save a lot, and it will help if you have some sort of skill that will be beneficial to that place where you are going.
