Just where the Cape Peninsula curves to the east there is a small beach-side suburb of Cape Town, which is known for it’s white sandy beaches and breath taking views, more-so for it’s strong winds and great waves which attract hundreds or thousands of surfers each year. Muizenberg has a rich history, with a couple of main attractions to visit, such as the site of the 1795 battle, and the Rhodes Cottage Museum. Though more commonly known as “Surfers Corner” where the local community is centred around; it is considered to be the birthplace of surfing. The downside to Muizenberg is that it quiet most of the time and most of the tourists will be surfers, this however can be considered a plus for the romantics looking for a quiet get away without the crowds filling up the beaches. If you love sea views and don’t mind varying windy weather, as well as a great place to enjoy peace and quiet then Muizenberg is certainly worth considering as a place to go for a holiday.

South Africa Volunteering Opportunity
We all see advertisements on the T.V about helping out those in other countries who have nothing and need our help. But sending them money is pointless as most of the money does not go to where it is supposed to and actually goes to pay the wages of those running the various charity organisations and the volunteers do not receive a wage and those they are helping get a very small amount of what is needed. It’s probably not a good idea to jump on a plane and travel to a war-torn country and try to help people where the risk to your life is going to be high. But don’t be discouraged, there are other places that are safer where you can still travel to and be part of the culture for a short time. In order to do this you really have to plan well and save a lot, and it will help if you have some sort of skill that will be beneficial to that place where you are going. If you are planning to live in a small village for a few months be prepared for a total culture shock where you will have none of… Read more »
